Okay Dark and fishhead,
I'm still waiting for some info on some good Fall MN River walleye spots. I know I know, this is a catfish channel, but I just got back from a week of walldog fishing on Kabetogama and didn't get my fill!
If it is top secret, hop on the Moderators forum or e-mail me. Or share with the others out there. Heck not too many people wade or shore walk for walleyes in the Fall now do they?
I ready and waiting, same cat time, same cat channel! Or is that channel cat, hmmmmm, I'm all messed up now!

Keep em' bendin' boys!!!!

I have a couple spots that I don't mind sharing with everyone. One is the creek that enters the river at the highway 41 bridge or the Chaska boat launch.Lots of people fish this spot, but I don't think they fish it properly. You can get a limit of walleye in an hour if they are biting, but don't use a bottom rig.keep your bait moving. My favorite way to fish this area is with a jig and yellow twister tail with a little glass rattle stuck inside,or add a jig spinner.I am sure that a crank bait will work also.Remember this is turbid water so go with a bright color and rattles really help.
The fish hold in different places, sometimes they are right on the bank in inches of water.Other times they will hold on the crrent seem just downsteam of the gravel bar formed by the creek. There is an underwater hump about 10 to 15 yrds upstream of the boat landing. You can find it by bouncing your jig in that area.Fish will hold in about 4 ft of water if there is current washing over it.Fish the upstream side of this.Another spot is the water bulge straight out from the "delta".The bottom rises only about 2 ft here but it often holds the largest walleye in the area. And at dusk or dawn fish right at where the creek enters the river.Fish will often hold in the current seam or the slack water created by it.You can actually jig vertically right at the waters edge and catch fish.Dusk and dawn are the best times to fish this area but you can get a few during the day on cloudy days.

Spot #2 is in Carver.Walk over the dike by the fire station and down to where two seperate creeks enter the river.Fish any of the little bumps on the gravel/sand bars and where the creeks enter the river. This area changes every year but fish the current edges and upsteam of the bars, also check the deep hole directly in front of the upsteam creek. There is a lot of water a bank fisherman can cover in this area. You may want to walk down to the train bridge and try that area or the many snags along the bank in the park.Again dusk and dawn are the best.
Please be careful in this area. The river is swift in many spots in this area and has claimed lives!
Remember to catch and release on the MN river.I would not eat any fish out of this river. There are steep consumption advisories.Plus its just the sporting way to do things.
For my favorite spots,I will only reveal these if you come fishing with me.This invitation is open to anyone. With the water levels the way they are now you would have a tough time getting to them unless you were in my boat grin.gif
Jim what is your email address?

Tell me what works for you guys and I will try hard to make it over for a day, half day morning noon or night! I work during the week so weekends would be the best. Or I suppose I could call in sick???

Let me know when things start to get going and I'll come on over. Dark, the bass are biting and I think you have a good idea of my area!

Walleye fever has got me but unfortunately so does a real fever. The wife won't let me go play until I get better.I did however sneak out saturday night with my boss.Went up the river a long way and fished the best spot in the area.We were torn on wheather to fish for walleyes or go after the big guys.Didn't have much luck with either. The walleyes should turn on soon.Water temps are dropping. The leaves are starting to turn. You always get a good bite before they turn.
Maybee if I send her to the store for some cough medicine I can sneak out!

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
