Minnesota river at Mankato

Sarge

Recommended Posts

I will be in Mankato aug. 6th to watch the VIKES scrimmage K.C. And I would like to know if there is anywhere to catch Cats from shore in the area. I plan on spending the night and getting some quality fishing in on the river, if not there maybe a local lake. Any info would be much appreciated!!!!!

You can catch cats at sibley park,Land of Memories, or Judson bottom road.
I was just out fishing the other night and on my way back I looked for a good spot to fish from shore that was easy and fast to get too. There is a nice sand bar forming by Land of Memories.(Here how to get there) When you drive in and cross the rail road tracks follow the road till you see a fenced building on the right. Park there and walk to the right side, you will see the river on the right (Blue Earth)keep walking till you see where the river cuts across left to the Minnesota river. The sand bar is on the Minnesota side.
Also you can fish the very end of that point where the Minnesota river and the Blue earth river meet.

If you are planning on camping Land of Memories also has a Camp ground.

Hope this helps

SARGE,
VIKINGS? THOSE THE GUYS THAT GAVE UP 40 POINTS LAST WINTER WITHOUT EVEN TRYING? ANY BODY WATCH RUSTY GATENBEE(sp) ON CHANNEL 5 TRAFFIC THE NEXT MORNING? FUNNY!
THAT AREA HUBCAT SAYS IS GOOD, IS GOOD. ALSO YOU MIGHT CHECK OUT THE DAM AT RAPIDAN WHICH IS JUST SOUTH OF TOWN ON THE BLUE EARTH RIVER.
BYE THE WAY HUBCAT...HAVE YOU HEARD ANY STORIES YET FROM THE DAM AREA? I HAVEN'T SEEN IT THIS YEAR YET.
WET NETS!

Musthavemuzk, I'm still not sure about the Moss deal, just hope it doesn't come back to bite us. And Dark30 I think it was actually 41 points. But I bleed purple, and have for the last 30 years. I can always hope!!!!
Anyways thanks Hubcat and Dark30 for the info, I see Judson on the map, but what is this Land of Memories, is it a park? And what am I more likely to catch flats or channels, that way I'll have a better chance of using the right bait! These options look real good Thanks!!!!!!

Sarge,

The land of Memories is across from sibley park. Take hwy 169 south cross the bridge over the Minnesota river- keep going and you will cross another bridge going over the Blue Earth river, the exit to the Land of memories is the next exit on the right (camp ground)
Land of Memories is good for flats and channels

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
