gas tank

gas line problem 40hp mercury 4 stroke third primer and the system will not hold prime . any help would be much appreciated castindad thanks

It sounds to me like there's a air hole in the system some where... when you describe that it won't hold prime do you mean after a couple of days, an hour, etc?

I'd try a different fuel line (from the portable tank to the motor connection or from the hose barb for the onboard tank to the motor connection) and if that's not it follow the fuel line under the hood of your motor to see if you have a gas leak there anywhere.
