Dark Cloud
Opening day today and Dad, Paul, and I hunted a spot about 15 min from here. A good morning spot were you can intercept the deer browsing thier way back to bedding areas. Well we saw about 15 diff deer total including 5 bucks. I had about 7 withing 35 yards and took this doe at 8 yards with a perfect shot. Paul shot one but hit her a tad low. A couple hours later and about a half mile we gave up trailing her. Dad saw two buck and had one nice one comming in and he took the other fork in the road. AB, his wife and his brother were hunting up Whitney P way and She made a perfect shot on a nice 8pt - He just bought her a bow a few months ago and this was her first time sitting in a tree. Dark Cloud
I wish the whole year was the month of october. Salmon, walleyes, and archery. If we could just slip in some ice. It was so nice to be sitting in a tree at daybreak. Cold with a heavy frost and some wind but nice. I drilled her perfect. Getting nitpicky I was about a 1/2 inch from perfect. Paul was bummed but sad to say that happens. Im beat - worked till 2:30, up at 5:30 then climbing trees, tracking and dragging deer. The river here is looking real nice. The leaves would drive ya nuts but I know I could get some fish. Billy W was up the salmon river thursday. Him and another guy landed 3 nice steelies and lost a bunch, plus caught Kings all day...
