Older Aqua View- question about camera 'covers' accessory

For the folks who are in the know, or any Aqua View 'prostaffers', can anyone tell me if there is available, the fish 'covers' that go over/around the camera end of the cable for the older model cameras, as of yet? I thought I remember a couple of years back someone posting here that it may be in the works for such an accessory for the older models, but I have yet to see it in any stores. I have an older model Mc2x.Any one seen anything yet, or where I can get one if this is available? Thanks.

I do some prostaff work for Aqua-Vu.. and No, currently there is no cover that goes over the older style cameras yet. The fish skins are replacements of the new cameras. Or you can order a different color for the one you have as well.. But nothing yet to cover your older camera.

Not a problem... Glad I could help!

My question to you, why do you want the fish skin?... I have both, and I have to admit I use the fish skin more than the non-fish skin. But it has more to do with the display than the camera. I never felt I had a problem with the camera spooking fish...As a matter of fact I have had sunfish, bass, pike and even a muskie either run into or try to eat the old black camera. I havn't had a muskie try and eat the newer camera with the fish skin, but then again, I havn't had it in the water as much yet either.

My opinion, if you like the camera keep it!... But then again, I also say, sell it, let someone who hasn't been able to afford a camera get one.. You upgrade, get what you want and everybody is happy!

I wasn't implying that I am going to toss my old camera because there isn't a 'fish skin' available for it grin.gif.The new cameras on the market are getting better, with more features that appeal to me.That being said, a technological upgrade to a new camera is always a possibility. The whole notion of having a fish skin is from my "it can't hurt to have it, and it may help" attitude towards having more toys/equipment!If the plain old black camera attracts a few more fish, then so be it. That will work for me.

Hi Huskiedevle,

Aqua-Vu now offers a "fish-skin" that does indeed fit over the classic rubber AV camera. It is in a bullhead pattern, which I think is kind of cool, as bullheads are either generally regarded as forage, or ignored as a benign species. Check aquavu.com and look under accesories for this item.

This is a question I get asked a lot when working different events for aqua-vu. And one I have done tests a bit myself. I think there are times when the lights deffinatly do not help you. For some reason the fish do get spooked by the lights. However, there have been other times, that I know the lights drew the fish in as well.

The one thing I will tell people for sure. If you are using a camera, and you have it off and are using a flasher in the same area... and see a fish on the flasher.. do not turn the lights on.. that for sure will spook them!

Generally, I do not use my camera much at all after the sun goes down. I have used it a few times to see the bottom content when I am setting up however.

Thanks for the reply,Toad. A bullhead-now how great is that? laugh.gif I will definitely have to get a fish skin for the Mc2x.The things a guy can find out a FM. Get a 'real fish'(bullhead) fish skin, and save a few bucks by not buying a new camera to boot.Well, at least the wife likes that. I will still have to look at new technological upgrades. wink.gif

    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
