Northland Sportsman
I have an 04 Polaris Sportsman 600 and a stick got wedged up by the CV boot on hte tire side. It didn't tear the boot, but it did push it in and twist it a bit. Also a small amount of grease came out the shaft end. I took the stick out inspected and cleaned the area. Is there anything else I should do? I am not sure if I need to ad grease or take it apart and inspect. I took it out a little bit afterwards and it did not seem to be leaking anymore grease. Any opinions/suggestions appreciated. Thanks!
tripper
If there is no tear in the boot and the boot clamp and boot are in place I would not worry about it unless you lost a great anount of grease.
pickerel hunter
Here's what I would do Northland Sportsman. Bring it in to your Polaris dealer or wherever you can and have them inspect it just to make sure. I did the same thing and it was good I brought it in. My 2 cents.Good Luck. Northland Sportsman
Thanks for the replys. The boot and clamp are still in good shape. It didn't lose very much grease either. I just don't want to wreck anything. I can't get it in to a dealer right away to take a look ati it and still need to use it if I can. Any other opinions? Thanks! JEV
Having replaced a CV boot recently, I am wondering how any grease got out at all? The CV clamps on those boots are extremely tight and I dont' see how any grease could get out unless there was a small tear. You might want to take a good close look just in case.JEV
Northland Sportsman
The grease came out the shaft end of the boot. I assume that since it was pushed in from the stick it was a smaller area and forced the grease out. I re-inspected and found no visible damage or any more leaking grease. Thanks for the replys!
