pug.. those are pelicans. If you look at the still frame shot, pay close attention to the birds close to the water. The wings are heavily cupped and they have the huge black mark. It also gives a better depth perception on the size of the birds.

Migration time, I have been noticing the Seagull flocks are getting bigger and bigger every day. Group up and head South.

As far pelicans on the river I remember growing up on the Tamarac when ten to thirty pelicans would oganize a "fish drive". They would form a line pushing fish down current until they got to a bend or hook they could corner the chow into the shallows. In one sweeping motion the pelicans would close up into a ten foot circle and chow down. Pretty smart birds.
