Transition/Fall Fish.....Where do I look?

I am hoping some of you can share some knowledge with me to help me locate more fish this time of the year and for the weeks to come....

The lake I usually fish has good numbers and I have caught a few fish over the summer. The lake is very vegetated and the fish have been easy to find in the weeds. From what I have read on this site and others is that the fish will leave the weeds as they die in the fall.

I was on the water yesterday and the weeds are Brown and dieing fast. There is no Rock structure that I know of on the lake.... Where else should I look beyond the weeds as the weeds cover 95% of the shoreline that I am used to fishing.

Any pointers or general ideas will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Even though some weeds die off there will always be others that are green and thriving. Search out green weeds and focus your efforts there. Otherwise fish outside the weedline or inside the weedline. The dying weeds use up oxygen so the fish stay out of them. If you can find green weeds, the fish could be stacked up.

Otherwise just take me with you and we are bound to find them. grin.gif

Also, I have really only fished with bucktails and top water baits in my recent life as a Muskie fisherman. Should i continue to use these baits into the fall, or should I try others such as crank baits, or big plastics?

I appreciate all of the tips in advance!

find out where the ciscos spawn. If you have good electronics then they should be relatively easy to find. On one of the lakes that I fish they spawn in pretty deep water off a point and we run black/white and Black/silver Cranks right through the middle of them.
