Grouse Near Crosslake?

Will be in Crosslake this weekend and thought of walking for grouse after the morning walleye fishing. Does this area typically have very many birds?

I can't think of the right habitat in Crosslake?

Too developed. Too close to spendy coffee shops for grouse.

There are plenty of Grouse around C.L., just head North and get into some State land or Potlatch and you'll find birds............and plenty of Deer ticks too!

Not sure. I know they are thick where I'll be this weekend. The Grouse that is. Maybe ticks too.

About an hour north in the Emily and Outing area on highway 6, there are many places to hunt for grouse. Lots of logging trails to walk. There should be a pickup truck at most of the trail's head though. So you will have to keep moving until you find a clear one. That is where I will be Saturday.

I checked the DNR site and see the state forest land map, but also see yellow shading for county land as well. Is the county land open to public hunting? It looks as if it's within the boundaries of the state forests

Funny how so many people say too many leaves on opener yet that is the busiest weekend of the year! I cant wait.

Hey...Gas is cheaper this week, so it is easier on the pocket book to get in the truck and drive around a bit.

Good luck this weekend with the grouse. Dog is going to love it.

If you head up that way again, you should do well! I was hunting near Emily on Monday and picked up 5 out of 9 in three hours of hunting. Best day of the year, unfortunately it was 2 hours from home!
