kingkidfisher4431
i was wondering if anyone has heard of taking an empty coffee can and putting that in a hot bed of coals and then filling it with peunut oil or vegetable to deep fry fish or grouse or anything when your hunting or fishing...like a small compact deep fryer i would say...but my question is does it work cause if seen them before...but do they work??? redhooks
Hey King- I just read an article from a boundary waters chef who suggests bringing a coffee can full of crisco to deepfry fish over the fire, afterwards she lets the can cool and the crisco will harden up-throw the cap back on the can for transportation and pack it away til the next fry. I guess the grease can be used several times. I haven't tried it myself but plan to. Good luck and good eating!redhooks
Guest
We've done shore lunch on our fly-ins with just using a coffee can to deep fry fish. It works, tough to keep the temp just right, but it works just fine and it is simple and compact!Gary------------------Let 'em go so they can grow!!!
