Steering Wheel Adjustment

My steering wheel is not straight when the boat goes straight. It never has been, and I'd like to fix it. I took of the nut that is on the front of the wheel, but it didn't seem to want to budge. Do I need a gear puller of some sorts? Is there a specific "steering wheel" puller?

If I do get it off, can I just put it on straight, or are they harder than that to adjust? Is there a way to straighten out without removing it, like adjust the cable?

My boat only has one cable.

Yes you need a steering wheel puller, they don't come off easy (thank godness) we are not NASCAR pilots....

Anyway when you pull it out there should be 3 groves inside wheel hole, you can choose which one to line up with key on helm shaft.

Sometimes there are three grooves, sometimes there are three bolts that bolt the steering wheel to the hub.. if you're lucky and have the 3 bolt version there's no need to pull the steering wheel off...
