TrenPT
I recently started fishing more with my young kids (6 and 3). I am finding that anchor fishing with them may be a good option, as it is difficult to manage them and the trolling motor. Anyone have ideas on what type of anchor to get? I have a 17.5' crestliner. Most of the lakes I fish have a muddy/soft bottom. Current is variable on the lakes/rivers I fish. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks.
Gordie
I use a 20lb and a 25lb river style anchor and haven't had any problems holding on the river or open water. I have 75 to 100 feet of good quality anchor rope on these anchors, good rope is a must. also I have the rope wraped around a wire feed welding spool(all plastic) wraps up nice and stows away neatly . Northlander
25# Richter and at least 100' of rope and you wont go anywhere in even the hardest conditions.
mazzilin19
Good rope and have at least 3ft. of galvanized chain attached to the anchor. This will help keep the anchor on its side to hold. I went from a 10# mushroom shaped to a aluminum anchor (I don't remember the name of style) last year and it holds in any condition. The place that I purchased it from said that it is very important to have the chain.
