blue_healer_guy
O.k. this may turn into a long post, so please bare with me. I take care of our local baseball field and I need to trim down the ridges around the infield grass. As baseball people would say a lip. It is between 1"-2" higher than the infield dirt.1st question, do I take a sod cutter and go all aroung the inside and replace with sod, or take a tiller (which my dad used to do)and seed the area.I need about 12" all around cut out to meet the other grass and dirt to be level. I don't have much sucess with seed, but I hear sod is not as hardy if conditions aren't good in later years.I do have the option of cutting sod at the field to replace. Thinking this might be a better option instead of commercial sod becuase it has been there forever and has a good root system. If I do seed, any brands/mixes that would be good for me to use. It has to be playable by next april. Thanks for any tips.
Powerstroke
Your best tool would be the sod cutter and replace with sod from the surrounding area. This sod transplant will require daily watering for the first 2 weeks and regualr waterings therafter.
