Trailer Jack Question

coldmark

Recommended Posts

My trailer is designed to accept the a-frame type trailer jack, but I'm thinking of putting on the swing-away type so that I don't have the jack hanging down. If I do put on the swing-away type, it will not be centered, but will be mounted on one side of V-front of my trailer.

Is it ok to have the jack not perfectly centered? Also, is a 2000 lb. jack beefy enough for an 8x14 ice shack? Thanks!

No problem with the flip up jack being mounted on the side, as for the 2000lb jack, should work but I would go as heavy as i could just for the extra insurace. Its not fun to be doing repairs when its cold and wet out

Mine is off to the side and I have no problems.

I use a 5000# Bull Dog jack and moved the attachment point on the jack down to make it a zero clearance system allowing it to go right to the ice.

An added bonus is that the jack comes off with the removal of 1 pin.

You can buy this jack at Mills Fleet Farm for about $40.00.
