algae bloom

Recommended Posts

I've heard Waconia has quite a bloom going and even some areas of Tonka. I was on Koronis last year in late September or early October and was shocked at the severe algae bloom - I was expecting gin clear given the time of year. Had no success that day.

I'd be interested in hearing how others cope with bad algae bloom (aka pea soup water). I have used larger baits and brighter colors with rattles to offset the lack of visibility but have not had great results. I catch a few but never very many or very large. I also tend to fish the baits much slower than normal. Then I went to very dark colors instead of bright and it did not seem to matter much.

Anyone else found better techniques?
