first time wading for catfish yesterday at the hwy 25 bridge- I think I may have to make a habit of it... there seems to be a certain rush to landing a fish that'll straighten a 1/4 without trying..... what are the best spots for cats between St Cloud and Coon Rapids that you folks have found?

see ya around-

Grant, Welcome! Catfish are becoming more popular every year with more and more folks up here in eye country....and its about time.

You wouldn't be talking about a 1/4 oz jig would ya? I don't get up that way much but I think wading for cats and casting lures at them is way too much fun! Given the right conditions, cats will attack lures just like smallies or walleyes and is a very addictive approach to catching them for sure!

half ounce jig, #1 hook, 4 gauge wire... not the heaviest, but makes for a good hookset. the jighead helps for a little extra distance winging a piece of chicken halfway across the water smile.gif. although it isn't really needed... I think next time Im going to just skip the jig and let the cutbait present "naturally". maybe a slipweight of some kind if anything.

I've always been a bass and panfish guy, never really gave much thought to cats until I moved within a mile of the river. now I've discovered there's something about the rod bending darn near back to the handle that gets to me wink.gif
