I have not tried it, but I've read that you can put a hook in a slice of bread and float that on the top.

I have caught carp on the surface when they have been swimming in groups with their mouths out of the water. I just used a bobber, short line, and corn.

Fly fishing for carp is becomming popular. There are quite a few threads on this site and on the Web. If you can see the carp, I'd try a fly, either on a fly rod or with a bobber.

I like to use corn or doughballs. Nightcrwalers will work, but your gonna catch pretty much every other fish that swims in those waters. You can take a can of corn drain the liquid, pour the corn in a ziploc bag and add a couple tablespoons of vanilla extract, let it sit over night and then it should be good to go. Bring along an extra can for chumming (without the vanilla) if the carp are hard to find. There are a lot of good doughbait recipes for carp on the web also.

i've seen that, just after the carp stop biteing were we were we started the catfishing. and then my river went dry and things have gone to lake fishing for the sunnies, with a few trips to the minnesota river. now im stuck at home doing feild work and the main car in the family went down to be fixed so the wife has been useing my truck, so my fishing has come to a hault for a little while, hopefully this weekend i will get my truck back and get out fishing again.
