There is a big FOM tournament out there next saturday.. So, expect quite a bit of company.

Its been a tough bite out there, some slop fish, some dock fish, some deep fish.. but no numbers in any one area.

And yes, you can get through the channel just fine.. its very nice.

Why did they make that channel so narrow? I was on N/S Center for a tournament earlier this year and you can tell the lakeowners have no idea how to go through that highway 8 channel. They just sit there and look at eachother. By the way, you can fit two boats under there at the same time, just you can't fit two pontoons at the same time. Considering that the lake has a million and one pontoons on it, they seem to pile up at the channel. Good Luck.

Deitz,

I was out on South Center on Tuesday (yes it was pouring rain) and I was wondering what the deal is with all the dead panfish? Is it a low oxygen thing or do you think there was some kind of parasite? It's hard to believe that it is low oxygen since all of my bass came from the shallows. Just curious since you can just about throw a rock and hit the shore from your house. Oh and on a different note. Are you going to make Wosika leave his scum frogs at home next Saturday? LOL. grin.gif You got yourself one heck of nice guy and good hook in the back of the boat for the event. Not that you need it.

Bull- To be honest, its not just NS Center... its all over..every lake I have been on in the last 2 weeks have had some dead panfish.. My guess is water temps spiked too quickly? I could be wrong...

As for CWosika.. he and I have been partners in quite a few events, we fish well together. In Other words, he doesn't try to tell me where to fish.. LOL.. he just fishes.. My other partner I usually fish with will also be fishing the event next week and he is an equally good hook and great guy.... I'm a little worried about that... LOL as for the scum frog, why take the best lure he has out of his hands LMAO!!!! I doubt we will throw them.

had you asked me 3 years ago.. I would have said South, hands down.. but the last 2 North has kicked out more consistant numbers of larger fish... however this year.. they both stink! Seriously, I would be willing to bet, someone will find them and hit about 17 lbs, and maybe 2nd will get 16.. then it will drop off in a hurry and a majority of the teams will weigh about 7-9lbs...

DD--

What is your theory to the sudden drop in the quality of fish, or even more the changes in the lakes output??? Is there anything specific that has contributed to this abrupt change.....just curious!!

wish I knew, because if I did I would think I could figure out where they are and get them to bite and make a little money in all these tournaments LOL... cool.gif

If I had to guess?, Low water. I think its moved the fish off thier normal spots and put them on spots people normally dont fish. Even withall this rain, the lake is still quite a bit down from last year and way down from the year before that. The only other thing I could come up with is pressure?, this lake became quite popular for tournaments and weekend anglers alike because of the great bass fishing the last few years. Its possible that a few of those nice fish went home to the dinner plate and just as possible a few of the fish died after being released after a tournament as well.

I have a feeling the lake will be just fine no matter what. There is a ton of spawning habitat, and I still think there are plenty of decent fish in the lake... they just havn't been all that hungry.

We didn't get on the lake till about six p.m. With the cooler temps and cloud cover we decided to fish shallow. We caught fish under docks and in the thick slop. We used texas rigged big plastics in the slop and small plastics and jigs under docks. We did not boat a fish over 2 1/2 lbs. A pretty disappointing evening all in all.
