mcary
I took this picture of a dragonfly the other day, unfortunately I copped out of entomology class when finishing up college. So could any of you dragonfly lovers out there help with a little identification. My best guess is that it is a four-spot skimmer - but it's only a shot in the dark. Also, sorry about the copyright on it - it was the easiest copy of the image for me to locate (my images files are in need of some organization ) Thanks in advance! jonny_redhorse
looked it up in my "Dragonflies of the Northwoods" (kurt mead)...I think your right on ...certainly appears to be a 4 spotted skimmer.......and a nice one at that!.....very nice detail of the head! ...here's another of the "skimmer" family.........a 12 spotted skimmer (taken a week or so ago)...zoomed in on this little guy so it's certainly not the clearest of pics (about 10 feet or so)...jonny
Steve Foss
Michael, never apologize to other photographers about a copyright. If we don't understand the need for protection against illicit and unauthorized use of images that take many dollars and many hours to get, who will? It's a four-spotted skimmer, and a (Contact Us Please) fine composition. Good work.
