Lowrance 332C is blowing fuses! Please help

My buddy has a two month old 332C that is blowing fuses. It only blows when the network cord(GPS puck) is plugged in. The unit works fine with power and sonar plugged in, but as soon as the network even touches the back of the unit it blows the fuse. Could this be a wiring problem, or more likely a gps puck problem? The unit has always worked fine until this week so I am thinking it is some internal problem, but any help at all will be appreciated.

Start with making sure the extra wires in the NMEA 0183 data cable are all taped off and not shorting any where.
