I have a 99 100hp Merc that just went through its second voltage regulator. The first time caused a fire with about $2000 in damages (insurance covered). Just recently, about 2 years after the first incident, it happened again but I gave it a fire extinguisher treatment before it could burn up anything but the wire harness and regulator.
Merc dealer said it was a bad connection to the battery. I have paid special attention to this and really didnt think it was bad. Any idea why this happens? Any one else with the same issues?
I am so very sorry to hear this and so sorry for the loss of Chamois. She was beautiful companion.
We will always miss the dogs we have lost. Unfortunately we lost both of our dogs just 6 days apart in November.
