Boston Whaler purchase advice

traveler

Question

I'm looking at a 1999 18 ft. whaler with a 135 opti-max merc. It's really clean, comes with a 1 year dealer warrenty on the motor. Asking 15,300, already reduced from 17,000. Anyone have any experience with this boat or motor? Thoughts on the price? I've never ran a center console or a whaler, but always liked the look and hear good things about the quality. Any quick advice would be a big help, thanks guys.

In my experience Whalers are pretty bullet proof. I would carefully check the keel and areas around the topside and gunnels for cracks (not that I would expect any) or any other signs of abuse. Don't know anything about the motor but if the dealer will stand behind it for a year thats a real incentive. Whalers are quality all the way.
