H2O issue...Not reading my Lakemaster chip.

dfv87

Question

My H2O C is not reading my Lakemaster chip anymore. It had been working just fine until about a week ago then it would kick in and out while I was using it. Now it doesnt read the chip at all???? I can still use my H2O without the lakemaps just fine but I got it to use the chip! I sent an email to Lowrance requesting some ideas before sending it in. I also went to a bait shop that sells H2O and Lakemaster chips and tried my unit with a new chip= no go. and then my chip in a new unit= works fine, so it is not the chip, it is the chip reader in my unit. Anybody had this problem or could think of a new idea to help me out. The prospect of sending them my unit for 2-3 weeks in the middle of the summer is not a pleasing thought.

On mine the spring action of the contact points got tired and won't push against the chip hard enough to maintain good contact. I had to wedge something over the top of the chip so it makes better contact.
