Another T8 tilt/trim question

I have a new yamaha T8 I purchased this spring. Yesterday when I got off the lake I tried to tilt it down but it only got about half way down and would not go any further. It still made noise like it was working but would not move. Anyone have any answers to why this occured? I had just used it 15 min earlier and worked fine when on the lake.

As you face the front of the motor, on the left side, there is a circular button that pushes in and pulls out that is a tilt rest stop for the motor. Tilt the motor up and pull that "stop" out and it should tilt all the way down.
