Minnkota Foot Pedal Problem

gilby

Question

  • 0

I have the 65# 24v trolling motor and I have noticed lately that there are "dead" spots in the foot control. It seems that 4-5 is equal to turning it off. Can this be fixed or is it time to replace? The trolling motor was purchased this Spring.

Can anybody help?

gilby, not stupid at all. I had problem of the unit sometimes turning off as battery got to two ticks. I don't understand why what looks like a mechanical switch would be effected by battery juice getting lower, but I took the screws out, carefully cleaned areas, and tightened screws up slightly tighter than they were. The on/off contact is "firmer" now, and it seems to be staying on better. This might help with the sliding speed control too.

MNUser,
I was having trouble with my foot control. I took it to a Minnkota repair shop in Duluth They are able to test the control. I was told the circut board was bad. It keept going in and out something on that line. They replaced the complete foot control with a new one and it was covered under warrannty.
Good luck, Tom (BD110)
