Transducer in the winter

I was wondering if it is bad to keep the transducers on a boat during the winter, I was thinking about covering it with something, it is a pain to take on and off each year. what do you all think?

never took mine off, and never heard of doing it either. i just take the head unit in.

If you are storing inside it should not be a problem.

If you are storing outside, I would recommend wrapping the trasducer. Extreme cold overnight temps followed by the sun hitting the transducer or quick morning warm ups can cause a rapid temp change that separates the internal elements and causes transducer failure the following spring. I've had this happen to my Pinpoint locators.
