Calhoun, Harriet, Lake of the Isles

Recommended Posts

Do many of you have much experience fishing these lakes? It seems to me that it would be a great day on the water regardless of the bite since only electric motors are allowed. I have heard of some good sized hybrids coming out of Calhoun, but hadn't really heard anything about the other two lakes. I'm south of the cities, near Prior Lake, so I would really like to make sure it would be worth the trip someday to venture through the cities after work with the boat. The 20 mile trip suddenly turns into an hour and a half drive!!

Fished Calhoun.. It was SLOWWWWW.. Did manage to get a decent pike on the line but my netter was a little slow at getting the net so I lost it...

got follows at Harriet, and a small musky at Cedar.

Personnaly I believe Harriet is the better of the three for muskies. I don't actively chase the toothy critters, but I most often run into them on Harriet and often they are very large. I believe Harriet was once stocked with 'skis as well, not sure if they still do it.

The few times I have been to Calhoun I have always raised a few pure strain muskies but the only one I have caught a tiger muskie there. It is a nice lake to fish because of the eletric motors only. I was with my friend when he caught a 43" pure muskie.

If you want any second-hand info, there's a guy I work with who's an avid Muskie guy & grew up near Harriet - it's still one of his favorite lakes. I've also had them follow baits in while fishing from shore for bass - makes a guy a little nervous when wading around barefoot. grin.gif
