1660 Lund Pro V Question

Hibbing

Question

A friend has a 1660 that has developed a leak. Called the dealer and was told that since he is not the original owner the hull warranty is not in effect.

Looking for advice on how to detect and fix this problem. Is this a problem that is common with this hull?

I owned a 1660 prior to several other Pro-V's since and have never had a "leaker" but I'm sure it does happen.

When the boat is on the trailer and as level as possible , turn the hose on and start filling the bottom of the boat until the leak appears. Once identified you can determine what it will take to fix.

If you use water to find a leak make sure you block your trailer up good. Just a FYI water weighs 8.31 lbs per gallon.
I'd start with tightening the boat plug. Just grab the rubber end and turn ring a few turns. Next check for cracks in the livewell line. Water will sit at the lowest point freeze and crack. Check the thur-hull fitting on the transom and livewell.

Another spot to look for when you've got if filled up with water is the seam under the keel where the two sidewalls join together. The manufactures use a rubber gasket that's sandwiched in between the keel and the two pieces. We usually fix two or three boats a year that have had this gasket either squeeze out of place or dry rot. If this is the case you'll see the water running out of the back end of the keel where it ends at the transom.
