Sunday- Report

I will keep it short. Went to little lake close to home that I have been having some success on. I got more bass then I could count but only an few in the 17" class everything else 12-15. Almost all were caught on number 0 Mepps aguila spinners with the silver blade and I added an exude 1" twister tail for effect. It was a blast as I had on 4lb test line and ultra light pole. I also got a quite few panfish mixed in.

The fun part of the story is I bumped into my neibor on the lake and he stated he had picked up a few walleyes on the weedline by a sandy beach like area. I decided I would pull a spinner and crawler and was getting hammered by 10-14" eyes. I decided to fish one small area and toss the Mimic minnow. Well I got into 20- 30 plus walleye with the largest going 22" I brought one home for my wife as she was craving walleye.

Great day on the water, hope others got out to enjoy !!!!!

Your day truely was a success. You tried different things and walked away knowing more than what you did going onto the lake. Though anyday I can get on the lake is a success...catching fish and having fun is just a bonus!

I can't say I had success today though. Fished a lake my buddy and I have had great success on in the past and thought those postspawn blues were gone. Guessed wrong on that one. Did pick up one probably 3-4lb's and another one around 2lbs. My buddy did the same. Pretty slow for 5 hours between 2 guys.

Better luck next time!

Capt. I am a multi-species angler and love to try new things every time out. I think it was Al Lindner that said the fish are always biting somewhere. My favorite fish recently has been the small mouth and that is followed by walleye and then the Large mouths. When fishing bass I usually target docks, rocks, timber, weed edges or other sturturess places. My go to's are sencko's and tubes. The three other baits that have produced and I would highly recommend this year are:

- The x-rap in perch or clown. This has worked for largemouth, smallmouth, walleye, and of course Mr. Pike as in the northern.

- The mepps Aguila spinners in silver or gold. The smaller the better. I have had great success on the 0 and 1's for bass and the panfish just kill them. I fish them plain or tip with tiny twister tail, other small plastics, of you could add some form of live bait.

- The mimic minnow to my surprise has been excellent. It produced 20 plus walleyes on the same one and some bass as well.

Things that are not working this year like they have in the past.

- Scum frog and larger bass spinner baits. They will continue to be tossed as I know there will be a day when they are the bait of choice. I just love it when the scum from is on some pads or other matty weed and the surface expludes with old bucket mouth from below.

    • got this tackled today took about 3 hours to get both sides done. Didnt even get to use a torch....   Thought I was golden with just jacking it up and I could get to everything but no luck. Had to remove the entire axle hub and brake assembly to get to what I needed. Was a pain but still better then taking off the entire pivot arm.    Axle bearings were already greased and in great shape thankfully. Got both leaf springs installed and its ready for the road again.   Probably going to have my electric brakes checked, I am not touching anything with the brake drums. Based on what I saw it doesn't look like my electric brakes have been working anyway. Brakes are nice to have if its slippery out
    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
