hanson
Ahhh... Fisky. Good info! You are oh so correct about situations where picking up line in a hurry is a good thing.I believe I cranked in a few of those piggies with that Abu of yours. Lefty crank is kind of goofy but it definitely did the job.Everyone has got something that works well for them, and guess thats whats important. We'll have to be making plans for some Sept. cattin' again. Waiting around all night to catch 1 flathead is a blast but catching 20lb channel cats every 20 minutes is a bunch of fun too!
fiskyknut
You know Chris I was actually kinda surprised when I saw you picked 7000's instead of 7001's. Seeing as you had your spinning rod setup to crank left. I guess when Cattin it's a bit different as we for the most part are waiting with rods in holders or forked sticks eh, but what seems goofy to me is folks who hold rod and set hook with their RH and then must switch over to crank. Whats even goofier is folks who'll use 'em upside down so as to crank leftie and backwards! Yes I know people that do this! Can't remember for sure what setups I brought when you were up last fall, but the blue reel on the blue St Croix had to be one of em you cranked on anyhow. September? Ooooh ya my favorite month, nites are getting cooler, bugs are gettin lesser, fish are gettin fatter and they are on the chow bigtime. That Dan fellow was still thinking of headein' up here around then too. LOTW is in transition come September so when it comes to the Red come late August and thru September it's ANYTIME eh! CatManLee
Snap...Snap...Snap! I wasn't saying there is anything wrong with buying expensive stuff! I was just stating that "I don't buy them"! If you want to buy the "best" that's fine, I don't care. Heck if I had more money I would probably do the same (or if my wife would let me )!!! Anyway's, I'm glad your stuff works fine. I bought one of my reels over 5-years ago and it still works as good as the day I bought it, so thats why I continue to buy the old el' cheapo reels and suggested the Tidewaters. I'm sure one day, my wife will let me spend a little more, then I can feel the difference for myself.
