Lowrance 334

BIG DIESEL

Question

We bought a 334 a few weeks back despite all the potential problems people were having with losing signal. Had a chance to finally install it over the weekend. After keeping our fingers crossed, it would acquire signal, then between 10 seconds and a few minutes would lose signal. Once it lost signal it would switch over to the "demo" mode and then we would have to go in and swith the demo off and then it would acquire again. Does this sound similar to people that were having problems? We bought it at Cabelas and if this is the case we plan on exchanging for another 334 unit. Please chime in....

Mine did the same thing, switch to demo mode. It to be switched about 7 times and then it stayed, but it does lose the signal often.I wish I had bought it at Cabelas, to exchange it. I thought I would buy in town because he matched the price and is just open the bait shop.

I purchased one less than a month ago. Last week, I had the marine replace the 334 with a 332. My 334 was, at best, locked onto a satellite 50% of the time. It also would take up to 15 minutes to initially lock on to a satellite.

I was on the water for over 20 hours this weekend with the 332. I never once lost reception and the initial time to lock on was a fraction of what it took on the 334.

I have to believe that something was wrong with my 334. It was much worse than anything else I have read on the FM HSOforum.

My only complaint with my marine was getting mixed information from different people about the 334 performance. One guy said that mine was the first they have heard problems with, while another said that they were aware of the problems the 334's were having.

Lowrance told me that I could either send it in to be repaired (10-15 working days plus shipping) or return it to the dealer (if it was within 30 days of the purchase).

I had a 334 installed when I bought my boat, so far in five trips it has lost the signal twice. Not perfect, but I can live with it, if it doesn't get any worse.

Well, we tried it again on a lake this time versus driving around in our vehicle in a heavily wooded area....

The 334 works perfect!! we lucked out. drove on the lake for over a 1/2 hour and never lost signal. Going up to Vermillion for the week so we will have a true test now...will let everyone know how it performs.
