Leaking hub???

picksbigwagon

Question

I was mowing the yard the other day and I noticed on one of my trailer tire, it looked like someone had poured something down it. I took the dust cover off the bearing buddy and I noticed that the blue ring was sunk in again, after filling it last weekend to run to Mille lacs. Does this indicate a set of shot bearings or is this normal for bearing buddies? I checked the hubs when I got up to Mille lacs last weekend and they were both cool..........

thanks for the help

If the bearings were cool that is a good sign, they will get hot when they start to fail. Did you overgrease it? Is the leak coming out on the outside or inside? It sounds like it is coming out the outside which would lead me to believe it is the bearing buddy.

Is it leaking where the bearing buddy goes into the hub or by the grease zerk?

I think it is coming out where it goes into the hub but I will double check....I could have over greased it too, but the directions said you should pump grease in until the blue ring pops out but doesn't move.........
