How many lures do you have?

Recommended Posts

Just counted mine. I have 136. I'll be starting my 3rd year of muskie fishing on Saturday. So maybe in a few years I'll have as many as Cliffy & Porterhouse. grin.gif Went to Sportsman's Warehouse today to pick up some more hooks. Ended up spending close to $100. Just had to get some more jerkbaits. grin.gif

This was bugging me so I went out and counted. 578 lures, and two Plano boxes of cannibalized baits or parts. I would hate to see what I had before two tupperware tubs and a Monster Lakewood got snatched. I use 19 lures on a regular basis. confused.gif

After you hit 500 I think you've breached into the "crack-pot" category. I counted how many plugs and bucktails I had before I moved a few years ago..........almost 700. Ad in jigs and creatures in the last few years, larger Rapala's, Zara Spooks and multi-speices cranks 4-6 inches, and I'm well over a thousand.

With as many lures as I have, when I hit the water: I rarely change lures. I know what baits work at whatever time of year, water clarity, lake/river I'm heading. I'll carry no more than about a dozen lures. No suitcases anymore weighing 70 pounds a piece! Those esox box's full of plugs and hair can really get in a mess when your on full plane going across some big sprawling water. I'm also not a mimmicker of leaving plugs laying around the gunnels, splashwell or anywhere they can later reap havoc.
