Camcorder Computer Movies??

hanson1287

Question

Alright heres my question. I have a camcorder with some footage on it that I would like to put on here. Is there anyway I can take it straight from the Camcorder to the computer? I dont have a USB port on my camcorder so that option is out. Any help would be appreciated.

Taylor,

You should have an AV out plug. I will have you would have to buy Firewire from a Best Buy type store. This is a cord that will plug into your camcorder and has a USB plug that will fit into your PC. Make sure you bring your cam corder to the store.

Good Luck!

hanson1287,

What camcorder/model is it?

If it is newer it might have a firewire port on it. That is the best way to capture video to your computer, but you will also need a firewire card in your computer.

Otherwise you would need something that will use your RCA outputs from your camcorder to PC like this. You will loose some quality/dropped frames, but it will work.

It looks like your Hi-8 camcorder only has the AV output and not a firewire port. A 'Digital 8' and some DV camcorders can output by firewire...basicly a high speed connection between the cam and the PC.

You'll need a Video Capture Device like the one pictured and use your AV cord. As HarryG stated, you can find them at BestBuy type stores and possibly Wal-mart in the software area.
