I was crossing the bridge over the Big Sioux the other night and saw some guys fishing along the banks, just curious if there was some good fishing opportunities right downtown there, down from the falls... Wouldn't mind biking back there and tryin some fishing out if there were some fish to catch...

Walleyes huh? Thats awesome! How far north of the cities are you talking, because when we're off season I have some free time between studying and lifting to get some fishing in and a local walleye fishery would be great! Thanks for the info!

I have heard of walleyes being caught north of Brookings. the dam in Flandreau is popular spot for anglers, but the crouds can be heavy. You just might want to do some exploring on your own. You will most likely be rewarded with a secluded little hotspot.

Moses and Mike: I posted a Forum a while ago Morrell (Contact US Regarding This Word).

This (Contact US Regarding This Word) is located next to John Morrell plant in north SFs. I have pulled some awesome eyes out of there and seen allot of 8-12# fish caught there after ice out. The fishing is usually good in late feb and march and tapers off early in april.

I have caught eyes there all year round but the best bite is early. I don't think I would like to eat any smaller fish after reading reports on that stretch of the river to Brandon.

The Airport (Contact US Regarding This Word) on 38 can also produce providing they are running water steady for at least two days prior to fishing.

I have caught smallies crappie pike and eyes there.1/8 oz jigs White and chartreuse usually produce the best here. Tip them with a minnow and work them back against the current. The best spot is under the R/R bridge on the south side.

Night fishing for cats above the airport (Contact US Regarding This Word) can be fantastic if they are running water. Use enough weight to get it to the bottom but slowly slide down current to the cats waiting along the slope of the bank for food to come to them. Fish the southwest side of 38 bridge.
