just a couple of questions for ya. after owning labs my whole life ,and deciding that i can't run as fast anymore, i just picked up a llewellin from houdini kennel. can you recomend any good books on the process of training a pointer. i am going to get some pro help from the breeder when the pup is older but in the mean time besides his obedience work i was wondering about other things. i do have gun dog by wolters, but it seems outdated, i mean he talks about whipping the dog to get results ! i'm not into that type of training. any help would be great. can't wait to see this dog work

I'm not Setterguy but I do have a book to recommend. Check out "Best Way to Train Your Gun Dog:The Delmar Smith Method" by Bill Tarrant. I've had 6 Setters and have found it to be an excellent book. Good luck.
