Tachometer Problem

aug495fish

Question

On Sunday the tach worked fine. Today it doesn't move unless I tap on it and then it will jump around, even when the motor isn't running. I checked the connections and they are all secure. Any ideas what might be causing this? Any hints where to start? Test the rectifier? Thanks in advance.

If it exhibits the same behavior with the motor off I'd say it's the tachometer and not the rectifier. Double check the pole setting on the tachometer that it didn't somehow get set half ways between two settings... but I'm guessing you're going to need a new tachometer since you've already checked the wire connections.

If your close to Valv swing by and get one from him.. it'll probably be worth the trip.

Did you verify that none of the electrical connections are touching any other connections (spade connector, eylet touching two connection points)?
