Silly light question??

I just put one of those dcell battery operated night running lights on the front of my old boat....after I put the batteries in I couldn't remember which way the grean and red sides of the light are to point.....I really don't want to get in an accident cause I have it backwards.

Combination or side lights must shine red to port (left side) and green to starboard (right side).
