Prop Guards?

hoggs222

Question

Does anybody usa a Rock Hopper or a Mac's River Runner to save your prop? Do they work good? How much bottom clearance do you lose? Any performance loss? I've got a '01 115 Yamaha & the prop seems to get dinged up easily. I'm pretty careful, but you know how it goes.

Never used one but I have seen several. Some look like pitchforks, others a circular hockey mask like cage. The rescue squad has something on one of their boats, but it's to protect a victim from the prop. Everything added to your skeg to protect the prop will have a negative impact on performance. But if you run in shallow rocky water it may help in the event of a low speed hit.
