Richter Anchor question

gspman

Question

Hi folks,
One basic question. I have a Crestliner FishHawk 1750 with a 115 Yamaha 4 stroke hanging off it and I am wondering what size Richter anchor to get? Richters come in 18 & 25 pound sizes. I'll have 100' of rope plus about 4' of chain to go with it. I don't anchor often but when I do I want to stay put. Thanks.

I'm familiar with that anchor but haven't used one. I believe the 18 lb. is recommended up to a 20' boat. 100' of rope seems like a lot but if you go by the 3 to 1 ratio you'd be good up to 30' of water.
I think I'd go with the 25 lb. like you said, your not going to use it that much but when you do you want it to hold.

A 25lb Richter will hold a battle ship,in a stiff wind.If your only talking about a difference of 7lbs...get the big one.
With the 25lb you can also use a little less rope to get the job done and you the boat will swing much less.
