This weekend I hit the water pretty hard and had decent success. I spent most of the weekend trying some different tactics on Lake Poinsett. The walleye bite was fairly slow only catching 4 walleyes all weekend. shocked.gif The fish were in the 16" to 20" range so they were at least worth mentioning. The real story lies with the smallmouth bass that passed the time. The were eager to bite if you could locate them but like the walleyes they seemed to be scattered.

Shown here is one of my new fishing buddies that was my "reel in man" on Saturday morning. He reeled in 2 smallies for me one of which was 17.5 inches and possibly a Proud Angler and this walleye that his grampa caught! Way to go Stephen grin.gifcool.gif

I should also mention that I had FM prostaffer Tyler Holm in the boat to put on an early morning fishing clinic for me on Sunday morning! Tyler caught the only 'eye of the morning and a few smallies to boot! grin.gif It was alot of fun fishing with you Tyler!

I have been hearing numerious reports of biting walleyes, northerns and smallmouth bass on Lake Thompson. Mos of the action is happening on the south end with the smallies and pike biting during the day on jigs casted from the Oldham Grade and the walleyes biting towards evening on crappie rigs.

I will be hitting Lake Sinai some this week and hope to fish Lake Thompson this weekend.

Good luck to all that venture out.

Mike,

Thanks again for including me on this past weekends fishing adventure. I had a great time and look forward to our next outing.

We hit the water early and Mike had put us on the fish before the sun even rose over the horizon. I'll post some pictures in a few days.

A lot of tips and Tricks were shared and I learned a lot. For example: Why do fish bite better out of one side of the boat than the other?

Mike is truly a top notch fisherman and has a vast amount of knowledge on the bodies of water he fishes. He was like a human GPS on Poinsett finding rock piles that were out in the middle of nowhere (but held fish).

We pitched 1/8 oz jigs and minnows all morning with turned out to be the favorite way to fish for both of us.

Thanks again Mike!
