planer board rod

Question

I need some opinions on a good rod for running planer boards, length, stiff or not so stiff just need a few opinions I'am currently using my 6'6" G-LOOMIS which is med-heavy with a open face, it works but not like I would like it to. Any info would be appreciated.

My favorite are the daiwa heartland downrigger 8'6" rods. They have a slow action but enough backbone for waves. Awsome board rods for much...much less than a loomis. I also use some shimano clarus 7'10" telescoping rods.

I second the TDR's. They are great. I have them combo'ed up with OKuma reels. I have the 8' rods and they slide right in my rod box which is great. I run 17lb mono on them.

I also use the 8'6" Daiwa Heartland rods. They do a nice job, but I wish I would have gone with the 9'6". What ever you decide on, choose a long rod that is very forgiving. That will allow your crank to run smoother in choppy waters.
