mplspug
Went out tonight and caught nothing. Had pecks, but nothing hit. My nephew wanted one more cast so I let him and dropped my line out about 10' from shore. A carp nailed it. We caught 4 carp and 1 sheephead in about 20 minutes until it was too dark to fish. In this high water, the water drops off real quick from shore. Don't be afraid to drop your line out about 10 ft from shore. If you do, secure your rod and do not stray from your pole. On that short of line a 5lb carp can yank your gear in the water in a matter of seconds. It almost happened twice tonight.
Ralph Wiggum
Pug, were you on the river or a lake?
mplspug
I was on the river north of the cities, but south of the CR dam. This stretch is pretty straight and featureless and that's another reason the current is pushing them close to shore. Not that carp wonder very far from shore anyway.
