Looking for Walleye harvest data

Recommended Posts

i am looking to find data on walleye catch rates, in fish per angler hour.

i just read where stream trout are caught at a rate of 1.1 fish per angler hour, and am curious as to what the numbers are for eyes on a statewide average.

someone from WI is trying to tell me WI's #'s are 1 walleye for every 37 angler hours, and i just dont believe it can be anywhere near that "bad".

any help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated!!! i have sent numerous emails to the DNR and havent got a single response.

the catch rate I mentioned was from Berkely - Pure Fishing. Here's some numbers I found from a DNR report on Rainy Lake from 1999:

It took anglers on average more than 20 hours to catch a walleye longer than 17 inches in 1994. Now [1999] it takes less than six hours.

also,:

After more than three decades of subpar walleye fishing and population levels, Rainy is now producing catch rates that have tripled from an average of one walleye caught per 4.5 hours of fishing in the 1980s to one per 1.5 hours today [1999].

deadhead,

thanks...i have found similar info on a lake by lake basis, and also found some numbers for the alexandria lakes area of .77 walleyes per angler hour.

what i am looking for is more of a state wide average.
