POWER PRO VS. SPIDERWIRE

basser

Question

Time to think about respooling for spring. I have used Spiderwire exclusively the past couple of years and it has been great to use. The only problem is the $120.00 it costs to spool all the rods. I have heard several people talk about the Power Pro,and being quite a bit cheaper I was thinking about giving it a try.Any thoughts? Is it as limp and easy casting as Spiderwire? Thanks

I like Power Pro over Spiderwire. IMO it is much "limper" than wire and holds no memory. I am going to spool PP on more rods this year now that I had a chance to use it without spending mucho $$ and not liking it.

I haven't used power pro line but I've used spider wire and have settled on fire-line!! I use fire-line on most of my bass and northern rigs, and when it starts to get used I simply unspool the line and turn it around. Very rarely do you spool off more than fifty yards while fishing, this leaves the rest of your spool unused and brand new when you turn it around!!

I'll throw another one into the mix-
Whiplash
I have been VERY impressed with it so far.
As for PP and Spiderwire, they are basicly the same thing. Both are made with Spectra fibers. The only diference I've seen is in the price.
Actually, I'm not sure if Spiderwire is still made with Spectra, it used to be, but I know for sure that PP is. I've heard from people who have always fished with Spiderwire and they say that the newer stuff is not as good as it was when it first came out.

I've used Whiplash, Fireline, and Power Pro and like 'em all - in different applications. Also used Cabela's braided and will never buy another spool. Cabela's does a lot of things right, but not line.
Don't care for the fraying of the Fireline after it's been on awhile (probably more of a psychological thing), but do still use it, because it can be purchased inexpensively at Berkley's outlet store in Spirit Lake, IA.
