Twas the night before turkey season....

Just stepped outside to hear a cardinal booming away, sounding like a flying siren. Waiting for the birds to fly up and gobble just once for me on the limb. I thought I'd come in and post and toast to you lucky dawgs that will be out hunting tomorrow.

Hopefully right now, you're out doing the same, and that the thought of all those birds on roost will be the cause of a long sleepless night but exciting morning. No amount of coffee could get me as adrenalized as knowing where your quarry is sleeping while you sneak up on him.

For those of you who don't have one roosted, it ain't everything. You might be planning to head to a strut zone or funnel that you've found success over the years.

Well, no matter what your situation or where you're hunting in Minnesota come sunrise tomorrow morning, rest assured that there's thousands of us groaning in painful envy that it's not our season yet. Our time will come, but yours is tomorrow. Make the best of it!!!

Good luck to all!

I'm packed and ready for tomorrow. Tomorrow is going to be more or less a scouting day for me. I didn't have a chance to get down to the southeast but once this spring. I am pumped though. Don't want to get a bird too soon and end my hunt on the first day!! I love to milk it. I'll post my results when I get back. Hopefully I can locate and pattern a couple birds in the next 2 days so that when I have my daughter with me on Friday and Saturday she can call 1 in for me. It's her first hunt going with dad, and she has her slate call down pretty good. She won't be toting her new gun until next spring, but I can see the fire in her eyes already at age 10.

Man I have everything ready locked and loaded and ready to go. Then this afternoon I find out i have to run into work tomorrow mourning for something that came up. Well the good news is that I pretty much have the turkeys patterned. I will be able to hunt the afternoon and by the time i get out I should have one group of toms working in a plowed cornfield and another couple of toms in a small woods. As confident as I am that they will be there, I still wish I could be there for the mourning spectacular. You know what I'm talking about when the woods wake up the toms gobble up in the trees, the deer come in from their feeding fields, and all the other critters that seem to just come alive at sunup. Well good luck to all the other people that going out tommorrow and the rest of the season.
