mounting downriggers

We want to mount downriggers to a board that we can remove from the boat. We have a Crestliner with extended transom. Any ideas out there?

My friend had a 27' Sea Ray that we did that too. We were able to ratchet down the board to the transom using several cum-alongs. Worked well.

You should be able to buy removable mounts for any downrigger.
Or are you thinking about a transom rail to mount riggers and rod holders onto?

I made a mount last year for my Yarcraft out of two rod holds for a pair of Cannons. It works great. If you would like some pics, send me your email ([email protected]) and send them to you. I would post them, but I don't know how.

Surface Tension, we would like to mount the mounts to a 2x6 and mount the board to the boat. Any ideas? E.Martin, you've got mail!

Take a look at the Versa-Ball mounts. They sell them at Cabela's and I'm sure many other places.

This is a fresh topic for me because I was doing research on how to mount my newly aquired riggers.

Mounted to a 2x6 on pedestal mounts which elevate your downriggers is called a transom rail or side rail. You can also attach flush mount rod holders to the rail. Is this what your looking for?
If so, then you would attach to bases to the boat. Then your pedestal attach's to the bases with hand bolts. The 2x6 mounts on the pedestals.
If this isn't what your asking then theres no reason to attach them to a 2x6.
If your looking for removable mounts for downriggers then just buy the base and use the hand nuts to attach the rigger to the base.

Here's what I did using a product called Eagle's Feet. No holes to drill and they go on and off in under 30 seconds.
