Hi turtleboy. Welcome to FM. Good to have your here. These are nice images. Your hawk is actually an osprey. Beautiful bird. Looks like you got pretty close, too.

stfcatfish, Thanks for the welcome and the ID help. As you can see I am very much an amateur in raptor ID, and also in photography. I have admired your an others' work here for some time. Yes, I did get quite close: as this bird took off I had a little fear he was coming for me! Picture was taken with a 4 megapix point/shoot digital camera with 3x zoom,is unedited.
