Lund 95
I am in the market for a new toy this spring either a 1775 Pro-V or a Mr. Pike. I was wondering what kind of low end speeds can i expect to get from say a 75-150 four stroke? Both of the motors we have on our current boat are both two strokes so i don't have much experience with them. Thanks, Adam
PerchJerker
4-strokes run great at low idle, but with the throttle closed a 4-stroke will push your boat faster than a 2-stroke DI motor. 2-stroke DIs idle at lower rpms. I'd guess that you'd be lucky to get under 2.2 or 2.3 mph with the setups you asked about.Merc Optimax's have a SmartCraft option that allows you to turn down your rpms when trolling. I think Yamaha has something similar that was new last year or this year but I don't know anything about it. And I don't know if the Yamaha is available on their 4-stroke motors? It's something you should look into.Good luck, have fun looking for your new toy.
marine_man
I'm pretty sure yamaha has this.. but I think it's only on the four stroke tillers from 50-90 hp...marine_man
