Planner board & 3 way rig

I guess you could use a 3-way off a planer board, but I'm not sure why you'd want too. I usually only use 3-ways in situations where you have a lot of depth changes so I'm constantly bringing in line or letting out line to stay on the bottom without dragging, or in rivers where there's a lot of current. I've never used boards in those situations.

I assume you're talking about tattle flags. I would think a 3-way would bury the flag, but you could still do it. Just watch the board to see if you have a fish or are dragging on the bottom.

You might want to look at either snap on weights or Bass Pro has Keel weights that are used with or with out Planer baords. On the Next Bite show this week they were using them with planer boards and spinners. They are painted in different fish colors to be used as a attractor. Gary and Keith came up with them after trying something similar in tourneys. I bought a few the other day adn look forward to using them. They are in the BPS catalog. They were using with the tattle flag and had no problems.

No need for a 3 way when snap weights do the same thing and can be taken off when reeling in fish. A 3 way would have to be fished close to your bait and thats not always good. In cases where you want the weight 10-25' or so behind the bait a snap weight is a better choice.

Another option may be a dypsie diver or jet diver.

hi bud justgive you some info from experienc. I use a 3 way on boards alot no flag i jiust wacth boards for drag of sway back to see if i have a fish. if you want to be on bottom or real close it works great adjust dropper length and leader length some . i use floating minnow baits and spinners with this rig. i find snap weights are gReat but the variables line out and boat speed is very critical so if you want to bottom or close i think a 3 way is great plus its no so obvious in clear water in staiNed water you can paint the bell sinker any color you wish if needed good luck DLK.
